We strive to offer this nurturing environment by using the Early Years Learning Framework of Australia as a tool for ongoing development.
In relation to children
We believe that the early childhood is significant period of child’s life and is a time for fun, discovery, adventure, imagination and learning through play. We believe if a child is confident they will have the ability to do anything they set their minds to, now and into the future. Therefore we value and believe in providing homelike atmosphere within a caring and stimulating environment in which all children can feel safe and secure, welcoming innovation and giving hope for the future.
We believe that the key to enriching a content future, children must be supported to develop a sense of BELONGING in a safe, secure, caring and family friendly environment that enables children in BEING themselves, where they can laugh, play, form friendships, participate “Hands on “experiences”, face challenges, discover, explore, investigate and make mistakes. We believe that the individual choice a child makes encourages them in BECOMING confident and independent and gives the ability to do anything they set their minds to.
In relation to Educators
We support educators personal early childhood philosophy and foster their personal development. We believe that team work and support for each other is very important for the education and caring of children. Educators help each other to build an atmosphere of trust and respect through open communication, respecting different points of view and maintaining confidentiality.
We support the development of a strong sense of well-being. We interact positively with children in all aspects of their learning and promote health and hygiene. We not only believe that interactions with children are special and important but we also respect their need for personal space. The practices and the relationships we form with children and families have a significant effect on children’s involvement and success in learning. As professionals we examine what happens in our settings and reflect on that which needs to change. We continuously seek ways to build on our professional knowledge and become co-learners with children and families. We demonstrate loyalty in our service to our mission, vision and values.
Sustainable Practice
We believe that a positive environmental attitude develops at an early age and we aim to help children learn about and implement sustainable practices and foster respect and care for the natural environment such as growing our own produce and having hands on experience. We believe in Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Repair.
In relation to Program
Through current theories, professional knowledge and understanding of child learning and developmental practices, we aim to enrich each child’s experience so that they develop a sense of self-achievement. Developmental play enables children to learn through concrete “hands-on” experiences such as doing, experimenting, predicting, achieving, implementing sustainability practice and making mistakes.
We believe by promoting peer learning opportunities with all age groups within the service children will develop positive peer interactions and this will provide inclusive setting.
Through implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we build on children’s interests and knowledge as individuals within the group and wider community. We look at developing the child as a whole by linking their learning and environment to the EYLF's 5 Learning Outcomes, principles, and practices.
We encourage their self-help skills and promote a positive attitude to encourage high self-worth. This encourages lifelong strong emotional intelligence that gives children the ability to cope with life’s challenges.
In relation to wider community
We are a unique service in the community in that we are able to offer both quality Childcare facilities as well as a strong and independent program. We play an important role within families’ lives, providing resources reflective and supportive of their need, promoting, maintaining and adhering to our mission, vision and values. We establish relationships based on respect, trust, friendship and perception.
In relation to Fairness and Social Justice
We believe all children, families and Educators have a right to be treated with fairness and equity, have the same opportunities for participation and are accepted as valued members of the community. All children and families of all abilities, from religious, cultural or linguistically diverse backgrounds are treated equitably and are valued and included in all aspects of the Centre.
We acknowledge and respect many differing social and cultural backgrounds of children in our care, in our community and the experiences they bring from the home environment. We provide an anti-bias program as this encourages children’s awareness of similarities between people, and it teaches them respect for individuals regardless of gender, religion, culture, race, and physical or intellectual abilities.
